Our Story
1 in 60 people get a mild traumatic brain injury a year in the UK - this particular one started with a mountain biking crash in the Lake District.
Discharged from the A&E with “just a concussion” and armed with only an A4-sized head injury advice sheet, Aaron grappled alone with debilitating symptoms such as heightened sensitivity to motion and noise, along with severe headaches that intensified whenever he tried to concentrate. Every facet of life from work to rest to play was brought to a grinding halt.
This was until he attended Theo’s concussion clinic - Theo conducted a thorough assessment of the root causes of his symptoms and provided Aaron with a bespoke structured rehabilitation programme - and in time Aaron made a full recovery. Following this experience Aaron and Theo decided that everyone with a concussion should have access to gold standard care and rehabilitation.
And so Heady is born - to GET YOU BACK TO YOU.
Our Founders
Theo is a concussion specialist with a PhD in concussion profiling. He focuses on active management and prevention, creating tailored rehabilitation programs for patients with long-term concussion symptoms. Theo's expertise extends to working with Olympic athletes, premier league football and rugby clubs, and serving as an honorary lecturer at UCL.
Aaron personally experienced the challenges of recovering from a concussion while working towards his PhD in Ultrasonic Detection of Osteoporosis at Imperial College London. Having recovered through the active rehabilitation prescribed at Theo's concussion clinic, Aaron is using his expertise in leveraging technology to democratise concussion management for the 1.4 million other concussion patients (in the UK alone) who do not have access to a concussion specialist.
